Tacoma Narrows Half Marathon and Relay

Run or walk one of the most unique race courses in the Puget Sound Region! This point to point course starts at the Tacoma Narrows Airport, crosses over the majestic Tacoma Narrows Bridge, runs on the Scott Pierson Trail, into Cheney Stadium and around the infield and finishes in beautiful downtown Tacoma...the City of Destiny.  We can't think of a better way to see the city.

Brand new Tacoma Narrows Half Marathon 3 Person Relay. Legs will be approximately 4 miles each. Each participant gets a finishers medal. 

The race is on a USATF certified course (WA09035MW).

(Please read) TCMA Policies: All entry fees are NON-REFUNDABLE. Sorry no transfers to another individual, and no roll-overs to the following year. All participants under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian in order to participate.  Sorry, no exceptions.

Only the first runner should come to the start line, via shuttle bus or dropped off, if runner 2 comes to the start they may not be able to make it to the exchange point at aid station 2 on N. Skyline St. in time. If you do drop runner one off leave before the start of the race or you may not be able to make it to the exchange before your runner!

Relay Criteria


Corporate Team

  • Team must consist of 3 employees from the same business.
  • Teams can consist of any denomination of males or females.
  • Awards to the top 3 corporate teams place of business.
  • Awards presented to each individual of the winning corporate team.

Mixed Relay Team

  • Each team must consist of at least two of the opposite sex. (1 males 2 Females - 1 females 2 males)
  • Awards presented to the each individual of the winning team.

Female Relay Team

  • Female relay team must consist of all females.
  • A relay member can run more than one leg but the team must have at least 2 team members to be eligible for awards.
  • Awards presented to the each individual of the winning team.

Male Relay Team

  • Male relay team must consist of all males.
  • A relay member can run more than one leg but the team must have at least 2 team members to be eligible for awards.
  • Awards presented to the each individual of the winning team.

Relay Rules and Information

  • The TNH Relay is designed for 3 persons; however, you can have 2 teammates.
  • Team Captain is responsible for signing up the team online.
  • Team Captain is responsible for collecting the teams money for their reimbursement.
  • Team Captain must input team or corporate name in the appropriate field on the registration form.
  • Team must supply their own support vehicle. Team Vehicles are NOT allowed on the course. Park off the course and walk over to the exchange point.
  • In the event someone can't run then someone else from the team can run two legs.
  • In the event a substitution is made on the team then the team captain must be sure that the NEW TEAM is in the correct division.
  • The cost of the relay is the same regardless if you have only 2 people or 3.
  • Each Relay team member will receive a finisher medal. Tee shirts and finisher glasses can be purchased extra.
  • Relay Teams must consist of 2 persons to be eligible for awards. 


Gear Check

Gear check is provided for your personal items at the start line gear check bus. Please tear your gear check tab off of your bib, fill out and attach to your gear check bag. Your gear check bag was given to you at packet pick up. Please do not put valuables in your bag. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items. You may claim your bag after you finish by providing your bib number.

Course Support

Water, Nuun Electrolyte, Vaseline, and Porta-Potties will be provided at all water stations. Aid Stations located at mile 2.5, mile 4.5, mile 6.7, mile 8.6, mile 10.7. Medical personnel will be on the course and at the finish.

Chip Timing

Event will be chip timed by Rogue Multisport.

Time Limit

There is a time limit of 4 hours. The course will open to traffic after 4 hours. All of those remaining on the course must move to the sidewalks and obey traffic laws. The timing mats, medical staff, and finish line amenities will remain at the finish until all participants have finished.


Age group awards will be presented at the Awards Tent to the top five in each of the following divisions: 9 & under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-80, 80 & over.  

Finish Line Amenities

The finish line recovery area is located at Tollefson Plaza.  Refreshments will be provided.


Strollers, Bicycles and Dogs


We do permit strollers on the course, but we are asking runners with strollers to start in the back not to hinder faster runners. In this race we do not allow bicycles (other than lead bikes and course sweepers). We also do not allow dogs on the course in this race.
